Los Cristianos is just next door to Playa de Las Americas and is not as big as the resort of Las Americas but is still well developed and has a great variety of complex’s, shops, beautiful white sandy beach’s. Originally Los Cristianos was a small fishing village and now has built up to a be a modern holiday resort. On Sundays a regular market is held by the Arona Hotel. Los Cristianos is mainly well know for the harbours and shopping centre’s. Los Cristianos is one of Tenerife’s most visited resorts for holiday makers, the harbour offers trips and excursions such as fishing trips, diving, pleasure cruises, glass bottom boats and trips to see the whales and dolphins. Ferries run from the harbour to La Gomera 25 km away. Los Cristianos has some of the largest shopping centre’s on Tenerife island, some which are underground beneath holiday apartment complexes, it is a lot quieter resort than Playa de las Americas and therefore attracts more families and the older generation. There are some pleasant pedestrian only areas in Los Cristianos where you can wander at your leisure round the shops. These stretch down to the harbour where you can perhaps have a meal or drink and watch the boats come and go. The pubs and clubs are not as “loud” as they are in Playa de las Americas. Los Cristianos is also popular with the disabled holiday maker as it seems to be well provided with ramps as well as steps and consideration for the disabled has been taken into account on the pedestrian areas.
Los Cristianos is home to two world-class beaches: The main beach (Playa de Los Cristianos) is a sandy beach sheltered by the Harbour and boasts a number of facilities including water sports, beach volley ball, showers and a children's play area. Las Vistas Beach is located in the next bay beyond the harbour and is man-made, protected by breakwaters, it also boasts a number of facilities including water sports, showers and a tourist information site.
There is also a rocky, black-sand beach in the "Rincon" area of Los Cristianos, (between the headland near the Puerto Viejo and the cliffs of Montaņa Guaza.) This beach has no real facilities but is popular with Naturists. There is a good selection of Los Cristianos property for sale and currently many bargains.
